Jaranwala : Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that the PPP does not need power without the support of the people.
“Our aim is to serve the people of Pakistan. It does not matter whether we remain in power or not. We do not need government which is not given by the masses. Party workers gave sacrifices and now the leaders would also render sacrifices. No party has rendered as much sacrifices as done by the PPP.” he declared while addressing a rally in Jaranwala.
Gilani said those who have been talking about bringing a change and revolution in the country have so far not been given opportunity by the people. He said no government has undertaken such a massive development work across the country as compared to the PPP-led government.
Prime Minister said that former prime minister and PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto preferred to embrace gallows instead of compromising rights of the people.
He recalled that when he was in jail he was asked to join dictatorial regime saying that (former Prime Ministers) Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif would not return to Pakistan. But I didn t surrender and said I don t want such power which is not granted by people. The office I hold belonged to ZA Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.”
