Yangoon, Myanmar, President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday conferred Benazir Bhutto Shaheed award on Myanmar’s icon of democracy and Nobel Laureate Ms Aung San Sui Kyi at a special investiture ceremony here.
President, who is on two-day official visit to Myanmar lauded her services for revival of democracy in her country. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari also attended the ceremony.
Zardari said Pakistani nation greatly admires the sacrifices of Ms Aung Suu Kyi who responded by saying that “our struggle is only for the rights of people of Myanmar.”
Lateré the President visited the mausoleum of last Mughal Emperor Bahadar Shah Zafar in Yangoon and gave cheque of US$50,000 to the caretaker.
