Karachi : Jamaat-e Islami (JI) former member national assembly Muzaffar Ahmed Hashmi has said that the Indian occupied Kashmir had a dominant 80% population of Muslims and Kashmiris wanted to be a part of Pakistan and to punish them Indian troops had occupied the Valley and busy in bloodbath there.
Addressing at a poetry reading session at Idara-e Noor-e Haq to express solidarity with the people of Indian occupied Kashmir, e said Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan .
Eminent poet Ejaz Rehmani presided over the Mushaira attended by famed poets Inayat Ali Khan, Anwar Azmi, Shahnawaz Farooqui, Nazar Fatimi, Younus Ramz, Akhtar Saeedi, Mehmood Ghazi Bhopali, Sahibzada Atiq Ur Rehman, Abdul Waheed Taj, Naeem Ud Din Naeem, Noor Ud Din Noor and others.
The poets portrayed the agonies of the Kashmiri people in their poems. A large number of people from different walks of life attended the Mushaira.
Acting JI Chief Karachi Birjees Ahmed, General Secretary Naseem Siddiqui, Deputy Secretary Ali Muhammad, Secretary Information Sarfaraz Ahmed and others were present.
Hashmi reminded that the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah had declared Kashmir the jugular vein of Pakistan. He said continuation of Indian occupation of Kashmir would result in devastating consequences for Pakistan and Pakistanis.
He alleged that rulers had shown a criminal negligence on the Kashmir Issue and undermined the importance of Kashmir for economic stability and prosperity of Pakistan.
The Indian government had deployed 700,000 occupation troops in the held Valley, who are busy in genocide of Kashmiri youths, he said adding that it was a matter of grave concern that the international community has deliberately ignored Indian atrocities in Kashmir while the United Nations had also kept a mum despite passage of resolutions.
He said his party would continue to raise the Kashmir Issue and play its due role for the just cause of Kashmiri people.
