Karachi : Top PML-N leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi MNA on Saturday announced his decision to leave his party and join Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf PTI by declaring that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was “today the champion of politics in Pakistan.”
Imran Khan formally welcomed Javed Hashmi into PTI at a press conference in Karachi shortly after he arrived from Multan by saying that Hashmi’s “bold decision will enable PTI achieve its goals. I appreciate his struggle against military dictator General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf and for democracy and rule of law.”
Imran Khan went to Karachi airport to receive Javed Hashmi and accompanied him to venue of press conference at the residence of PTI leader where former PPP Foreign Minister and now senior vice chairman PTI Shah Mahmood Qureshi, former PML-F leader Jahangir Khan Tareen who recently joined PTI and other party leaders were also present and also welcomed him into the fold of PTI.
“I have joined PTI in order to save Pakistan. Imran Khan met me recently and only asked to save Pakistan which I have done by joining PTI which now has an important role in national politics. Imran Khan has been consistently demanding accountability, justice, eradicating corrutpion and struggle to save Pakistan.
“I have been in my 45 years in politics always demanded that assets of political leaders should be declared. I consulted my workers and friends. I am impressed with PTI program to bring revolutionary change, capable to face challenges and joined it without any conditions,” Hashmi stated adding that PML-N Punjab MPA from his Multan constituency Javed Mahmood had also resigned and joined PTI.
Answering a question, Imran categorically denied that PTI was allegedly being supported by the establishment and Hashmi endorsed his PTI Chief’s statement. “Yes, God Almighty is helping us. PTI has no members in the parliament and top elected leaders of political parties in government (Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi, Jahangir Tareen and several others) are joining my party because of its program to bring about revolutionary change in the system.
“Revolution is coming in Pakistan and nobody can stop it. No one can stop tsunami as people across the country want change. PTI public meeting at Mazar of Quaid-e- Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah in Karachi tomorrow Sunday will prove this,” Imran vowed.
PTI Chief declared that his party will sweep the next general elections and would make Pakistan “safe for the people in all respects. We will save the country from the corrupt, dacoits and those committing excesses on the masses.”
Answering a question, Hashmi said PTI was not being supported by the establishment. To another question, he also denied that he had any differences with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and described him as “my brother.”
